“I have always seen the possibilities of living remotely and have been supported by the Bruce Rock and surrounding communities. I hope to inspire my sons and others to find what they love to do, look for the possibilities, focus on where you want to go, reach out for support and as much education as you need and keep going! There will always be wins and then challenges that make you stronger, so try to enjoy the journey”.

De-Anne Strange lives in the central Wheatbelt town of Bruce Rock. As a wife, mother of three sons, partner in the family farming business and now her own textile design business, De-Anne isn’t short of a role.

With an artistic flair, De-Anne has always been a creative entrepreneur. Over the years De-Anne has operated her own hairdressing business, photography business, completed a Diploma in Visual Arts and has now operating, a freelance print design studio with a focus on textile designs for women’s fashion.

De-Anne creates digital pattern designs from her artwork and sells them to other businesses to license and use on their products. De-Anne’s designs are also available on home wares and fabrics for dress-makers to purchase from the Worldwide, online shop ‘Spoonflower’ and other fabric and wall paper companies.

“A lot of thought, care and love goes into every design I create. I use many different techniques and skills that I have developed over many years, to create a finished design”.

Most of De-Anne’s work is either hand painted or sketched first, then photographed and created into repeat patterns in Adobe Illustrator, ready for any surface.

“I aim to always stay authentic and create timeless artwork like no others, to ensure my clients products stand out from the rest. My designs are nature inspired, I constantly source inspiration from our stunning local surroundings to showcase natures beauty and sentimental aspects of our own property”.

De-Anne loves designing and is working hard to build a viable business to help support her family, while doing something she loves. For De-Anne, it has always been very important to have a career that was also flexible with the farm business and family.

“As anyone who is part of a farming enterprise knows, it’s a team effort and there’s always plenty to do at any time of the day or night”.

“Creating the businesses I have over the years, has helped me be able to work around the farm and also raising our boys”.

Leigh and De-Anne’s boys have always been supportive and involved in helping with these businesses too. Leigh is a qualified drone pilot for our photography business ‘Strange Images’ and has great skills in capturing fantastic aerial images. The boys have always been with De-Anne and now they shoot all her branding photos for her business and have always loved creating artwork and getting messy with her as part of her creative process.
