International Day of Rural Women Sundowner

Women and girls are disadvantaged in this pandemic, a problem aggravated in rural areas. Rural women, with a crucial role in agriculture, food security and nutrition, already face struggles in their daily lives. Now, since COVID-19 and their unique health needs in remote areas, they are less likely to have access to quality health services, essential medicines, and vaccines. Restrictive social norms and gender stereotypes can also limit rural women’s ability to access health services. Furthermore, a lot of rural women suffer from isolation, as well as the spread of misinformation, and a lack of access to critical technologies to improve their work and personal life.

So, come celebrate the crucial role that rural women play with the RRR Network of WA. Kick off your heels and spend a night networking with like-minded women who all value rural regional and remote West Australian women.

FREE for Registered RRR Network Members and $50 for non-members. Including finger food and drinks.

RRR Roundtable #03 – How can the regions achieve digital equality?
Many regional locations across WA have limited phone service or internet access. Reliable internet remains a significant barrier to gender equality for women by limiting opportunities to work from home, study, or start-up a business. Digital connectivity is an issue for all regional people limiting capacity to grow, diversify markets and inspire innovation. What can be done to improve access and what are the gaps that telecommunication stakeholders are struggling to overcome?

Join us for # 3 Roundtable on 3rd September, 2:00PM to 5:00PM
Guest Speakers include:
Wendy Duncan – Co-Chair of the Telstra Regional Advisory Committee
Naomi Evans – Head of nbn Local WA
Penny Griffin – Project Manager Regional Telecommunications, DPIRD.

$75 non members, $65 members – Afternoon Tea is included. Venue – West Coast Eagles Function Centre, 42 Bishopsgate Street, Lathlain, WA 6100
